Katie Lusby

When? w/c 8 April, Monday - Thursday, 9.30am - 11am

Where? Northern School of Contemporary Dance

Katie’s class is a chance to connect to yourself and others in expression and play.  The first half of class will be a sweaty, continuous guided improvisation, awakening our energy, creativity and skill.  We will practice tuning-in to ourselves as individuals to discover the essence of how we love to move, whilst also developing our awareness of and sensitivity to the others in the space, so we can explore dancing together as a group.  These ideas will continue through the second half of class as we play with how we can approach set material both as an individual and as a group.

Katie is a freelance performer and teacher currently working with Gecko Theatre and Wayne Parsons Dance.  She has also worked with Punchdrunk and choreographers such as Tom Jackson Greaves, Sarah Dowling, Fin Walker, Aletta Collins, James Cousins and Dam Van Huynh, amongst others.  Katie has taught company class for Scottish Dance Theatre, Punchdrunk and New Adventures, open professional classes for The Place and Trip Space, and in institutions such as London Contemporary Dance School, London Studio Centre and the Royal Ballet School.  She was an Associate Lecturer in Choreography at LSC from 2014-15 and often acts as an external examiner for LCDS. Katie completed her MA in 2014.
