Katie Lusby

When?  All classes run 10.00-11.30am

Katie’s class is divided into three sections:  30 minutes for a functional warm-up which will include guided improvisation and continuous movement patterns; then 30 minutes to focus on strengthening the body and practicing floor-work technique; and finally 30 minutes dedicated to exploring and enjoying longer movement sequences.  Throughout the class, focus will be placed on softness, ease and efficiency, and pushing/expanding your personalisation of movement.    

 Katie trained at London Studio Centre and London Contemporary Dance School.  She has worked with Richard Alston Dance Company, the Van Huynh Company and has toured internationally with Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake.  Katie performed in David McVicar’s Aida at the Royal Opera House and also remounted the choreography (by Fin Walker) at Den Norske Opera & Ballett in Oslo.  Katie has also worked with choreographers such as Aletta Collins, Jorge Crecis, Akram Khan (Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games), Wayne McGregor (DanceLines 2011), James Wilton and Punchdrunk (The Drowned Man: A Hollywood Fable). She is currently working with Gecko Theatre. As a teacher, Katie has taught the professional class at The Place, and at institutions such as Central School of Ballet and London Contemporary Dance School, as well as leading company classes for Punchdrunk, Jorge Crecis/SQx and New Adventures.  Katie completed her MA in 2014.
