Thursday 11 June 9.15-10.45am

Friday 12 June 9.15-10.45am

RJC Dance, The Mandela Centre

Eleesha offers a highly physical and demanding  contemporary technique class with the joy of movement at the centre of it’s ethos. Class is a time to locate truth in the body and increase the realm of possibilities available to you.

The class is influenced by principals from a range of techniques that have been formative to Eleesha’s dance career and choreography. The structure of class borrows from Cunningham, the core power from Graham, precision and line from ballet, the use of weight and gravity from release and the importance of imagery from gaga. Eleesha’s class fuses creativity with technique and prioritises moving with authenticity.

The class consists of a combination of simple exercises to align the body and find clarity of form, building into more expansive movement that is driven by musicality and imagery to discover a range of contrasting textures. The aim of the class is to increase openness and power available to the body and inspire the discovery of new ways of moving.

The final phrase takes the class to an exciting place on the edge of being in control and out of control, looking for the refined balance between the two.
