Teaching this week: Azzurra Ardovini

NB. Change to class this Friday (and also Monday next week):

Those lovely people at Northern School of Contemporary Dance are auditioning for a new Artistic Director for Verve. For the audition the candidates have to teach a class, then rep, and NSCD need people to join in. We have combined forces with NSCD so that you can take part in these classes as a participant FOR FREE. It's a little bit like a mini intensive, with some amazing artists. The timetable is the same for both Friday and Monday:

Session 1 (at NSCD)
9-10 am Class
10.15-11.30am Rep

Session 2 (at NSCD)
1.30-2.30pm Class
2.45-4pm Rep

You don't have to commit to a whole day if you are unable to, but NSCD have asked if you could please come to one session (class and rep).

Thursday's class will run as per usual, with Azzurra teaching.

When? Monday - Thursday 9.00-10.30am

Where? Yorkshire Dance

NB: This week’s classes have been integrated into the GRIT dance intensive, held at Yorkshire dance, which is a two week program of artist development workshops, networking and scratch performances centred around the principles of fulfilment coaching and growth mindsets. The GRIT dance intensive is now full, but morning classes are as per usual open on a drop in basis for anyone who wants to come along.

Azzurra teaches a high energy class, imprinted on both Release technique and Limon principles. It focuses on nuances of dynamics in movements and on a clear understanding of initiations within the body in order to achieve a fuller and clearer embodiment of the material given. The class plays with speed, shifting in space and going in and out of the floor whilst maintaining a strong, yet relaxed, use of the body.
